Do you have McAfee Security Center, and have struggled uninstalling it? Have you tried uninstalling the software using the standard Windows uninstaller, which merely fails or gives an error code? Have you tried using the McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR.exe) from the McAfee official website and the software uninstaller tool inexplicably appears frozen at some point? If so, you are not alone as many have struggled with this ordeal. Below are the steps to permanently uninstall McAfee Security Center.
Note: The solution below only works if you already have McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR.exe) and have the software freeze at some point during the uninstall process. The uninstaller is available at McAfee official website (MCPR.exe link).
1. Start uninstalling McAfee Security Center by running the McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR.exe).
2. When the uninstaller software hangs at about 25% of the estimated total time remaining, end the process “McAfee CleanUp tool (32bit)” in the “Processes” tab of the Windows Task Manager.
3. Restart you computer.
4. Run the McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR.exe) once again.
5. When the software appears to hang at about 75% of the total estimated remaining time, simply wait for about two to three minutes until the uninstall process is complete.
Credit goes to mdsmike for sharing his solution, which I personally found to be the only solution effective in my Windows 10 laptop.
