I strive to see you
With the proper light;
With the brightest bulb,
I still fail to fathom
Your form.
Aye, I notice the bumps
And crevices in your skin–
How they mar
The aching perfection
Of your smile;
Your eyes hold
The strangest concoction
Of fears and dreams,
Hidden and untold;
Yet, your charm persists
Despite it all.
I strive to comprehend
The make-up of your soul;
But, once again,
I simply forget that goal–
Alas! Too thrilled, I am,
To be fully engulfed
By your enticing love.
