“Breathing Space”

Love doesn’t mean enforced encroachment
and total disregard of personal boundaries.

Spare me from the antics
That merely make me mad;
Act like a man
And allow me the tiny space
That I so want;
For, love never meant caging
And limiting the capacity
Of the one you love;
In fact, it signifies liberating
The encumbered, shattered soul–
Or, at the very least,
Permitting the other to breathe;
Because, this life is already
Filled up to the nines
With nonsensical inebriations
And presumptuous deliberations;
I don’t wish to experience such,
Even in my own little cul-de-sac
Termed quite succinctly
As “My Beloved Home”.
